DESCRIPTION:Saturday, November 8 from 2pm-5:00pm\nChristine King Mitchell has worked in the field of African American studies for more than 30 years. During this time, she led a Museum on Wheels traveling Black History exhibition and developed library programs to teach African culture mask making. She has partnered with the National Archives in Atlanta, Georgia to display historical newspapers from her personal collection through an exhibit titled “Slavery and Freedom in Black and White: The African American Experience in 19th Century Newspapers.” Christine is a retired docent at the Old Slave Mart Museum in Charleston, SC, where she gave weekly talks to visitors about her work from 2013 to 2024.\nMore information on Christine’s book can be found here: The Business of Slavery: Evidence of Control, Power, and Wealth\n\n
