NAACP Mission: Tracy Dawson
Our mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.
Indigenous Land Acknowledgement: Alex Palmer
The NAACP of Martha’s Vineyard Branch recognizes and honors the many generations of Wôpanâak people who have lived and continue to be sustained in this territory for more than 10,000 years. We acknowledge the Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land, and the enduring relationship that exists between them and their traditional territories. The land on which we sit is the traditional territory of the Wampanoag Nation. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced occupation of their territory. We honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous people connected to this land on which we gather.
