What We Do
Civil Rights & Advocacy
The Martha’s Vineyard NAACP works to protect civil rights, advance racial equity, and ensure that every member of our community is treated with fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity. Guided by the NAACP’s national mission, we advocate for policies and practices that address discrimination and systemic inequality, engage with local leaders and institutions, and help ensure that the voices and concerns of Black residents and other underserved communities are heard. Through advocacy, education, community action, and partnerships, we work to turn community priorities into meaningful change on Martha’s Vineyard.

Education & Scholarships
The Martha’s Vineyard NAACP is committed to expanding access to educational opportunity and helping students build pathways to long-term success. In alignment with the NAACP’s national focus on education equity, we support students and families through scholarships, academic resources, community partnerships, and advocacy for fair and inclusive learning environments. Our goal is to help ensure that young people on Martha’s Vineyard have the support, information, and opportunities they need to pursue their education, reach their potential, and thrive.
Voting & Civic Engagement
The Martha’s Vineyard NAACP works to strengthen civic participation by helping community members understand their rights, stay informed, and make their voices heard. In keeping with the NAACP’s national commitment to protecting voting rights and expanding access to the ballot, we support voter education, registration, community outreach, and nonpartisan civic engagement efforts. Our goal is to encourage an informed, active community that participates fully in the decisions shaping Martha’s Vineyard and beyond.

Health & Community Initiatives
The Martha’s Vineyard NAACP supports efforts that promote healthier, stronger, and more equitable communities. In keeping with the NAACP’s national focus on health equity, we help raise awareness of disparities, connect residents with information and resources, and support initiatives that improve access to care, wellness, and community support. Through education, outreach, and local partnerships, we work to address the social and economic conditions that affect health and quality of life across Martha’s Vineyard.
